Ronald E. Canakaris, CFA
Mr. Canakaris joined Montag & Caldwell in 1972 as a portfolio manager and research analyst. In 1973, he became Director of Research, and in 1984 was promoted to President and Chief Investment Officer of the firm. From 1997 through 2005, he held the role of Chief Executive Officer and from 1984 to June 30, 2009 he served as President. He was elected Chairman of the Board effective January 1, 2006. In addition, Mr. Canakaris edits its quarterly Economic & Investment Outlook, and he is frequently quoted in the business and investment press. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta. His professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta, former Trustee.
William A. Vogel, CFA
Mr. Vogel joined Montag & Caldwell in 1988 as a portfolio manager and research analyst. He became Chief Executive Officer January 1, 2006 and President, July 1, 2009. Mr. Vogel entered banking upon receiving his M.B.A. at Duke University, and he served as a commercial loan officer with First Union National Bank in Charlotte and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In 1981, he changed careers and worked as a securities analyst and portfolio manager for seven years in the Trust Investment Department of Wachovia Bank & Trust Co. in Winston-Salem. He is the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the North Georgia United Methodist Foundation and Chairman of the Onnie Mae Spruill Foundation; is a Board member of the Grant Park Health Clinic; is an Advisory Board member of Action Ministries; heads the Endowment Committee of the Dunwoody United Methodist Church; is a member of the Board of Visitors of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and the Rotary Club of Atlanta. Mr. Vogel’s professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta.
Janet B. Bunch, CFA
Ms. Bunch joined Montag & Caldwell in 1973 and currently serves as portfolio manager, security analyst and Director of Operations. Her professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta, former Trustee and past President.
Grover C. Maxwell III, CFA
Mr. Maxwell joined Montag & Caldwell in 1988 and currently serves as portfolio manager, member of the Mid Cap Growth Investment Policy Group and as Director of Portfolio Management. He is a former member of the Board of Visitors of the University of the South and is past Chairman of the Georgia Society to Prevent Blindness. Mr. Maxwell currently serves on the Board of Heart of Hope Academy. His professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta.
James L. Deming, CFA
Mr. Deming joined Montag & Caldwell in 1992. He entered investment banking upon receiving his M.B.A. at Cornell University in 1982. He served as an institutional sales person for A.G. Becker Paribas and E.F. Hutton in Atlanta. Prior to joining Montag & Caldwell, he served for five years as a portfolio manager for NationsBank. He is on the Northside Hospital Foundation Board. His professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta.
Helen M. Donahue, CFA
Ms. Donahue joined Montag & Caldwell in 1997 after six years in the investment business. Helen serves as portfolio manager for equities and fixed income and also serves as a member of the Mid Cap Growth Investment Policy Group. Prior to joining Montag & Caldwell, she served as an Assistant Vice President and fixed income portfolio manager for Legg Mason Capital Management. Her professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta.
C. Jefferson Hagood, CFA
Mr. Hagood joined Montag & Caldwell in 1995 after spending five years as a Vice President and senior portfolio manager in the Investment Management Group of NationsBank. Prior to that, he was associated with Leavy Investment Management as a portfolio manager serving institutional clients. He began his career in 1984 as an investment officer with the First National Bank of Atlanta. He is a former Board member of the Georgia Society to Prevent Blindness. His professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta.
Charles E. Markwalter, CFA
Mr. Markwalter joined Montag & Caldwell in 1998 as a portfolio manager. He entered banking upon receiving his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1987. Prior to joining Montag & Caldwell, he served nine years as a Vice President and portfolio manager for Trusco Capital Management. His professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta.
Kurt T. Momand, CFA
Mr. Momand joined Montag & Caldwell in 2003 after being affiliated for more than twelve years with Trusco Capital Management, where he was a Managing Director and senior portfolio manager serving institutional clients. He began his investment career in 1979. Mr. Momand currently serves on the Board of Young Harris College. His professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta.
Michael A. Nadal
Mr. Nadal joined Montag & Caldwell in 1997 after being associated for ten years with two Southeastern-based investment counsel firms, Hamilton Allen & Associates and Paul Manners & Associates. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Treasurer for the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S. Mr. Nadal serves on the Board of Directors of The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and Chairs the Investment Committee. His professional affiliations include the Southern Employee Benefits Conference; the CFA Institute; and the CFA Society of Atlanta.
David L. Watson, CFA
Mr. Watson joined Montag & Caldwell in 1999. Prior to joining Montag & Caldwell, he served as a senior portfolio manager with Merrill Lynch Investment Management, managing private and institutional portfolios, and he was a portfolio manager for SunTrust Banks, Inc., and the company’s Trusco Capital Management subsidiary for twelve years. Past affiliations include membership on the Educational Content Committee of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE); the Professional Qualifications Committee of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB); past member of the Mississippi State University Foundation Board of Directors. His current professional affiliations include the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Atlanta.
